How Will You Pay For It?

Like any city project, much of my agenda requires working with the county, state, and federal government along with nearby city governments to get major things done. Below are additional specifics for each project.
Community Center: Put forward a bonding referendum allowing Savage residents to decide whether or not to fund a proper community center, which will be a similar funding mechanism to other projects. I believe that Savage residents have a right to decide on how their tax dollars are spent.
Community College: Work with neighboring cities such as Burnsville, Eagan, and Shakopee to make a “Southwest Metro Community College” designed to serve everyone in the region.
Public Hospital: Work with the country to establish a county medical center staffed and equipped to serve the people of Savage and Scott County as a whole. Otherwise, we can work with existing entities that the county or city has a relationship with to establish a clinic to provide more affordable care options locally.
Where Can We Put It?

While Savage is reaching the limits of its physical space, there are still opportunities to develop or redevelop existing land for these projects. The Economic Development Authority has identified 7 opportunity sites in Savage where we can establish a community center, community college, and public hospital. I believe that the City of Savage should be using these opportunity sites to invest into the future of Savage through a long-requested community center, a vocational-technical college, and a public hospital.
